a clockwork figurine: mezco one:12

The lengths I had to go through for this asshole were honestly appalling. It's costly, sure, but most "good" figurines are. I paid a pretty penny for this off Facebook marketplace, of all places. I actually had to drive to another state to fetch him. At least the guy selling it gave me a pretty good discount.

I believe this figurine was released sometime around 2018. Alex comes with all the accessories shown (forgot to picture a spare open right hand) and super articulated. The fabric clothes on him mixed with the tighter joints make him a little difficult to pose, but I still think this one is the most "realistic" looking figure of him out there that's true to Malcolm McDowell's representation. Even the eyeball cufflinks are the right colors AND they have that "skin" detail underneath. Finally!

My only minor pet peeve with the figure is that his shirt is actually corduroy and not straight cotton. I also wish the base wasn't so...cartoonish? I dunno. I get it. A Clockwork Orange, let's make the base orange...but must it be so bright? And have that art on there? I dunno. I'm nitpicking.

There are quite a few Alex figurines out there, but I'd say this one is the best by far, especially if you have the means to purchase. It's realistic without looking too realistic, fairly true to the movie adaption, and comes with enough accessories to really make a bang for your buck. He doesn't even seem that fragile, so you can throw him around a bit for fun.

Though, I don't display him with any head besides his unmasked one. I don't really like the hair sculpt on the "beat up" variant. It's very overly textured, in my opinion, and the paint job doesn't do it much favor. It makes his hair look...meaty-looking. Meatball head.

i love you meatball head

And if none of my words sold you enough, let me tell you that man's got RANGE.

I even made a prop out of a failed keychain attempt!
He works surprisingly well with most miniatures.
